Not Canada, too? PROP strikes again

In May of 2017 Canada officially adopted new opioid guidelines which are very similar to the CDC guidelines released just a year before.

Once again, members of PROP were heavily involved in the development of the opioid prescribing guidelines, this time with our neighbors to the north:

PROP Vice-President Gary Franklin, MD and PROP Board Member Mark Sullivan, MD – both affiliated with the University of Washington – served on the Clinical Expert Committee.

David Juurlink, MD – another PROP Board Member – had an influential role on the Canadian Guideline Steering Committee.

Juurlink and Sullivan disclosed their involvement with PROP in their conflict of interest statements while Franklin did not specifically name the group.

Sure enough, the PROP names all appear in the 2017 Canadian Guideline.

We’re sorry, Canada.
